About our Club

The Carlisle Fish & Game Association was established in 1944, dedicated to the enhancement of hunting, fishing, and conservation.  The club serves more than 2500 members from Cumberland County, the surrounding area, and several from out of state.

General membership meetings are held the first Wednesday of January, May, September, and October.  A 15-member board of directors meets monthly to conduct the business of the club.  Aiding the board are chairpersons responsible for scheduling and conducting club activites.

ACTIVITIES

ARCHERY:  The archery committee maintains the practice field, field course, tower, and equipment.  Events scheduled from spring through fall include 3-D shoots and a traditional shoot.  Practice facilities are reserved for use by the membership.

RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGE:  The range is available for members' use throughout the year.  Practice is closed for scheduled events at the range.  Shooting hours are from 8am until dusk.  Additional range rules are posted at the firing lines.

FLY TYING:  Fly tying is held each winter for a ten week run.  Classes generally begin the first Friday of January.  Each session features a guest who shares tips and techniques with the participants.

HUNTER SAFETY EDUCATION:  The club hosts several classes each year, scheduled by the Pa. Game Commission.  Volunteer instructors conduct the courses.  There is no fee for the course and lunch is provided by the club.

SILHOUETTE:  Every Wednesday evening from May through August, the range hosts the Silhouette League.  The league includes both .22 rifle and .22 handgun shooting.

SKEET:  Skeet is open to both members and the general public.  Practice is held each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday..  We participate in  the Central Penn Skeet League and hold two registered shoots each year.  A club championship is held each year.  Click the link to the left to go to the skeet page for more datail.

TRAP:  Trap is open to both members and the general public.  Practice is held each Saturday, beginning at noon.  Several ATA meets are held each year as well as a club championship.  The club also participates with teams in two leagues.

In 2004, a WOBBLE TRAP was installed on Field 1.  It is open during trap practices hours.

SPORTING CLAYS:  The clays course at Carlisle Fish and Game was the first in Central Pennsylvania, and one of the first in the state.  The program was established by the Board of Directors on September 19, 1988, and startup began in October.  We began operations with two old hand-set skeet traps, several "Outers" type traps, and two traps from Quack, one with both a bird head and a rabbit head.  Word of our new operation spread rapidly, and business was booming within months.

Practice is held every Saturday throughout the year at 9am, and is open to the general public.  Wednesdays during Daylight Savings Time practice is held at 4pm.  Several meets are scheduled each year, including the club championship and an all-around clays event.  A league is conducted during the summer.

A 5-STAND SPORTING CLAYS COURSE was established in 2004.  It is generally open during established sporting clays hours.

FISHING:  The club holds a permit from the Pa. Fish Commission that allows year-round use of the lake.  Trout are stocked for the spring season and there is a resident population of bass and panfish.  Fishing is one of the privileges reserved for club members.
