About our Club |
| The Carlisle Fish & Game Association was established in
1944, dedicated
to the enhancement of hunting, fishing, and conservation. The
club
serves more than 2500 members from Cumberland County, the surrounding
area,
and several from out of state.
General membership meetings are held the first Wednesday of
January,
May, September, and October. A 15-member board of directors meets
monthly to conduct the business of the club. Aiding the board are
chairpersons responsible for scheduling and conducting club
activites. ACTIVITIESARCHERY: The archery committee maintains the practice field, field course, tower, and equipment. Events scheduled from spring through fall include 3-D shoots and a traditional shoot. The program was established by the Board of Directors on September 19, 1988, and startup began in October. We began operations with two old hand-set skeet traps, several "Outers" type traps, and two traps from Quack, one with both a bird head and a rabbit head. Word of our new operation spread rapidly, and business was booming within months. Practice is held every Saturday throughout the year at 9am,
and is open
to the general public. Wednesdays during Daylight Savings Time
practice
is held at 4pm. Several meets are scheduled each year, including
the club championship and an all-around clays event. A league is
conducted during the summer. A 5-STAND SPORTING CLAYS COURSE was
established in 2004.
It is generally open during established sporting clays hours. FISHING:
The club holds a permit from the Pa. Fish
Commission
that allows year-round use of the lake. Trout are stocked for the
spring season and there is a resident population of bass and
panfish.
Fishing is one of the privileges reserved for club members. |
